What does the manufacturer's warranty cover for your cars?

11/09/2021

Any car owner should be well informed of what the manufacturer's warranty covers of his car, what parts and repairs are covered, and for how long it covers. When time passes, it is certain that the new car will no longer be like this, but rather it will begin to lose its value, problems and breakdowns will begin to appear. This means that a good familiarity with the manufacturer's warranty will not make the car owner anxious and will give him the ability to save the money needed to repair his car.

Definition of manufacturer warranty

The car’s warranty is defined as a promise made by the manufacturer or dealer who sells cars, which provides for some repairs to cover faults or defects that may appear in the car during a certain period of time from purchasing it or before it is cut a certain number of miles, as this varies according to the terms and conditions of the manufacturer.
The manufacturers are obligated to legally implement the terms of the warranty, where the user will have many benefits that include repairing any defects or faults or replacing some parts according to what the manufacturer offers in terms of warranty benefits, which may save the user financially. But it is known to everyone that the manufacturer's warranty does not cover all of the costs of periodic maintenance or those problems that appear in the car as a result of exposure to traffic accidents or natural disasters or even exposure to theft, neglect or misuse by the owner.

Types of manufacturers' warranties

There are several types of warranties provided by the manufacturers that differ in terms of the benefits they cover, and these warranties include five types which include first: the basic guarantee that covers defects and problems that may appear in the car from the factory itself, second: the roadside assistance warranty that includes repairing some faults that occur on the road such as tire faults, third: the drive and transmission system warranty that includes engine and transmission malfunctions, fourth: the emissions guarantee that covers faults and defects resulting from the car's lack of its ability to meet the environmental requirements with regard to harmful emissions to the air, and fifth: the rust and corrosion warranty Which covers the malfunctions of metal parts in the car.

The regular maintenance and maintaining the manufacturer's warranty

When the car owner relies on his warranty and does not carry out the periodic and regular maintenance that the car needs urgently, the owner may be surprised that the car’s warranty has been canceled because his car’s faults have worsened so greatly that the manufacturer will consider that these faults are due to misuse. So it is better instead to carry out the regular maintenance of the car. It is not a requirement that this maintenance be done at the car dealer from whom it was purchased, but that any skilled mechanic will do the trick.

The difference between a manufacturer’s warranty and a car’s insurance

As mentioned previously, the manufacturer's warranty eliminates the repair of some faults that may appear in the car or the replacement of some parts that contain defects within a certain period of time or miles. While insurance is completely different from that, as insurance covers based on certain documents bearing what is covered, faults and problems that appear in the car as a result of traffic accidents, natural disasters, collisions, and other matters. The insurance price varies according to the car model, year of manufacture, and the faults it covers.

Extended Warranties

The extended warranties are the same as the manufacturer's warranty, but they come after the expiration of the basic warranty in order to extend coverage for the same services for a longer period, but the extended warranty is required to be after the initial warranty expires. The price of the extended warranty depends on many factors, including the vehicle’s age, miles driven, and the services it covers.

Warranty for used cars

Used car insurance is no less than new cars, but to secure any used car, it must be in good condition, free from defects and problems and also have to lack to the need for many major repairs. It is worth noting that when purchasing any used car, its owner must ensure that its previous warranty and insurance can be transferred to another company before its expiration date so that the owner can search for the company he wants according to his requirements.
