Define Auto Recall

08/09/2021

When the car manufacturer announces that the car or one of its equipment poses a danger to the safety of the driver or passengers, or that this car violates standard safety standards, it is automatically recalled and its owner is called to work to fix these risks and this is called the auto recall. Where the problem is repaired by the manufacturer, or some equipment is replaced or recovered, the entire car may also be replaced, but this is rare. Since every driver cares about his car, his safety, and the safety of his family, he must take care of the auto recalls and know the conditions for his investigation to reduce any safety hazards. So how does an auto recall take place and what should a person do when recalled?

Vehicle Lifetime and Auto Recall Repairs?

Statistics indicate that the older the car, the rates of auto recall repairs are lower, because the possibility of the car owner fasting by completing these repairs is less. Evidence of this is what was indicated by the Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers, where it was found that the rate of completion of recall repairs reached 83% for modern cars with an age of 5 years or less, while this percentage is about 44% for cars that are between 5 to 10 years old, and it is around 15% for cars that are over 10 years old. The percentages also indicate that about 25% of the cars have not completed their recall repairs due to the fact that the average age of the vehicles is about 11.5 years.

There are several reasons for the auto recall, and the reason depends on the type of problem in the car, it may be simple or complex, some of which have no solutions, and the presence of an open recall to the car can be verified by typing the vehicle identification number (VIN) on an approved website for these purposes. If there is an open recall, then that means that there are problems with the car that must be fixed indeed.

How to Find out the Car's Position from the Recall

The vehicle identification number (VIN) is extracted from the lower part of the windshield on the left side, and it is made up of 17 digits, it can also be extracted from the vehicle registration card or car insurance card. When searching for the car to have an open recall, one of these three results will appear to the car owner:
Car recall is incomplete: This means that the recall repairs have not been completed and that there are repairs that must be done.
No open recalls: This means that the car does not have any recalls associated with it or that the repairs needed for the recalls have been made for this vehicle.
The necessary repair for the recall is not available: that is, there is an open recall for the car and it needs repairs, but the manufacturer has not found a solution or way to offer this repair yet.

What Should a Driver Do When Calling his Car?

When the car owner receives a notice that his car has a recall, he must follow the safety instructions provided by the manufacturer regarding the repairs that must be done or go to the agent in order to maintain or replace the car or some of its equipment and this is done free of charge by the agent. In case of the agent refusal, the driver must notify the manufacturer immediately or file a complaint through the official recall sites. This may be considered good news for car owners when there is an opportunity for some repairs related to recall without payment and have them repaired by the authorized dealer.

The Absence of a Current Vehicle Recall

In the event that the car owner does not find any current recalls on his car, he must ask himself about the existence of a recall in the future and the answer will be yes, as the manufacturer will conduct a safety recall through a report containing the details of the recall and the problems that must be treated and repaired within 60 days of the Cars Manufacturers ’Union notification that come to the car.
