French Cars

The 10 best French cars:

We often talk about sloppy finishing, untimely clicks, random reliability… French cars don’t always have a good reputation! Rightly or wrongly, this is another debate… What is certain is that our neighbors to the South do not lack imagination and their engineers often have brilliant ideas! As proof, here are ten cars that hold (or held) the high drag to the German, Italian or Asian competitors…

1-Peugeot RCZ:

Sleek line, clean atmosphere, sporty mechanics, and sharp road behavior: the Peugeot RCZ has signed the brand’s return to the sports market with a superb product and bringing the driving pleasure to a very high level. We look forward to the «R» version and its 260 horses!

2-Citroën DS:

It is probably the best known of the French cars. Commercialized in 1955, it then made the effect of a bomb, a real UFO jostling all the references of the time with a hydraulic system managing the suspension, the brakes, the steering, and even the gearbox! A unique, inimitable gas plant that saved the life of General de Gaulle!

3-Renault Clio III RS:

Very radical, the Clio III RS was aimed at hardcore athletes. A hypertrophied look that housed a high-powered mechanics, roaring at 7,000 rpm and expressing its rage through rolling trains set to atomize the clock! For sports bomb lovers, we did not do better!

4-Bugatti Grand Prix:

The Bugatti Type Grand Prix, which reached new heights during the auctions, was originally designed to compete on the track. Boasting a stunning finish (especially for a race car!), they distinguished themselves by their equal good mood on the road or the track. And what a technical flamboyance: 8-cylinder double shaft engine, alloy wheels…

5-Peugeot 205 GTI:

When VW presented its Golf I GTI to the press, the manufacturer had no idea that it would generate a series of small oversized sedans. And the Peugeot 205 GTI is one of the best of them, with its typical behavior, raging engine, and bourgeois finish. A rare versatility that hit the mark in sales: 300,000 copies!

6-Panhard Dyna Z1:

It remains unknown to the general public… Only the older ones remember its characteristic rattle sound. However, the Dyna Z was a real revolution! Presented at the end of 1953, it symbolized the French genius: all-aluminum monohull, high-efficiency 2-cylinder engine, all-alloy, front-wheel drive… The figures are worth a look: around 700 kg, 6 seats, 130 km/h, and 6 l/100 km!

7-Delahaye 135:

The Delahaye 135 symbolizes perfectly the golden age period. The French automobile was then considered a luxury product, very refined and often dressed by the greatest bodybuilders of the moment, French also. A very robust car with a powerful 6-cylinder engine and a new Total transmission. A classic among the classics.

8-Citroën 2 HP:

La Deudeuche, we no longer present it. A mythical model that put rural France on wheels. The technique, the air of nothing, is sophisticated, but allows maintenance at the lowest cost. We’ll never make it to Deutsche fast, but we’ll make it to the end of the world.

9_Renault 4:

More than eight million copies, making it the third most sold car in the world, a 33-year career, an infinite number of variants and distribution in no less than 100 countries: the 4L is a legend! It is the universal car, still adored today in Africa. How to forget it?

10-Alpine A110:

Forty years later, the myth of the Alpine sedan is still alive and well because Renault intends to revive it! Under his frail plastic body, we find a Renault mechanical. Nothing very sexy? However, this legendary silhouette beat in rally everything that was possible to beat in the early 70s. The Queen of Sliding will not be forgotten
