Hyundai has not always been the glorious brand we know today, but if there is one model that has always shone within the brand, it is undoubtedly the Hyundai Sonata.
The Sonata from
the Korean manufacturer has undergone a complete overhaul. Design, comfort,
technology, she was impressive on all levels. Nevertheless, it seems that it
was not enough yet since for 2021, the Korean manufacturer has allowed itself
to add a little hot sauce under the hood of its sedan with an all-new N-Line
version.
The current market
prioritizes the purchase of SUVs, which has forced some manufacturers to
literally abandon their midsize sedans, one of the most important segments of
the industry. Cars in this category operate in a price range that allows
automakers to experiment and offer features they simply couldn't launch in
smaller vehicles or mass-production models. In short, this is just one of the
many reasons why the Hyundai Sonata is a car of choice.
Let's talk about
the mechanical aspect now, because there's a lot to cover. Indeed, the Korean
manufacturer's sedan offers no less than 4 different engines. It all starts
with a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine that delivers 191 horsepower and 181 lb-ft
of torque. This is the engine found in the low-end versions of the Korean
manufacturer's sedan. Next comes the small 1.6-liter 4-cylinder turbocharged
engine that develops 180 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque.
The Hyundai Sonata
is also available in a hybrid version and the latter benefits from a
combination of a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine with 150 horsepower and 139 lb-ft
of torque and a 51 horsepower and 151 lb-ft electric motor. Equipped with this
mechanism, the Korean manufacturer's sedan has an average fuel consumption of
5.3L/100km in the city and 4.6L/100km on the highway, which not only makes it
one of the most fuel-efficient cars in its class, but also on the entire market
if we exclude plug-in vehicles and 100% electric vehicles.
Finally, the
engine found at the top of the Hyundai Sonata lineup refers to the N-Line
version. It's a turbocharged 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine that boasts 290
horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque, which allows the Sonata to complete the
0-100 in just 5.5 seconds, a performance more than respectable for a car of
this category.
Design is a key
element of a vehicle's success, and fortunately for the Sonata, it's something
Hyundai knows well. Its sedan offers one of the most daring bodies in its class
while remaining elegant, which is quite difficult to accomplish. Moreover, the design
of the new Sonata was so well received that the brand's engineers were inspired
by it to design the new Elantra. It's safe to say that the new Hyundai Sonata
is among the prettiest cars on the market, if not the number one in its class.
The interior of
the Sonata is elegant and refined. A heated and leather-wrapped steering wheel,
heated front and rear seats and ventilated front seats ensure your comfort at
all times of the year. The model's connectivity is also at the forefront,
thanks to an 8" touchscreen including a navigation system, a Bluetooth
hands-free phone system, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay smartphone
connectivity, as well as a rear-view camera.
Thanks to Hyundai
SmartSense, many driver assistance technologies are included in this model.
These include cruise control with a stop-start function, blind-spot collision
avoidance assistance, driver lapse warning and high-range headlight assistance.
The exterior
design of the 2022 Hyundai Sonata is characterized by dynamic curves and
well-defined lines, which give the vehicle an elegant, modern and sporty
appearance. This four-door sports coupe model offers you all the attractions of
active driving, while enhancing your experience thanks to the luxurious
additions that dot the vehicle's cabin.
The Sonata has a
very distinctive appearance, thanks to the characteristic design of its LED
daytime running lights, which are discreet and blend into the bodywork when
switched off. The connections connecting the horizontal rear brakes of the
Sonata also create a signature look and an impressive visual effect. An
addition that makes all the difference on the go is the inclusion of a
panoramic sunroof, which illuminates your cabin while allowing you to enjoy the
good weather.
There is a very big problem with the rise in popularity of SUVs that buyers do not necessarily realize and that is the fact that you have to pay larger sums to obtain equipment as complete as that of an equivalent car. In short, all that to say that the Hyundai Sonata offers you more for your money and as if that were not enough, it displays one of the best quality/price ratios in its category. In its entry-level version, also called Preferred, the Sonata has a base price of $27,149. Next comes the Sport version starting at $31,649, the Luxury version starting at $36,149 and the Ultimate version starting at $38,749. The hybrid version starts at $40,199. Unfortunately, we don't yet know the base price of the N-Line version as of this writing.
