The Hyundai Group first achieved the unthinkable by launching a luxury brand with no reputation and no pedigree. We can say that Hyundai Genesis has met the impossible, and this, two times rather than once by forging a solid reputation only a few years after its launch.
Although it's the
new kid on the block in the Genesis lineup for 2022, the GV70 is no rookie and
I'd go so far as to say it could teach the competition on many levels. It is
reliable, efficient, packed with technology and all the rest, but the Korean
manufacturer has gone even further and that is perhaps what is likely to make
the GV70 so popular. Genesis designed the latter with a lot of emotion and a
design that is both exploded and refined. Let's just say that there is no other
vehicle on the market that offers the same combination and even if it was a
risk worth taking, I think it's safe to say that the Korean manufacturer made
the right decision, because the 2022 GV70 is a vehicle that has it all. In
short, it's a sophisticated and truly luxurious vehicle whose concept goes far
beyond that of transporting you from point A to point B. And I'm not even
talking about the experience offered by the brand also in general. which is
another benefit of doing business with Genesis.
You will therefore
have understood that the 2022 Genesis GV70 offers 2 mechanical options,
starting with a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder turbocharged engine that delivers 300
horsepower and 311 lb-ft of torque. This is more than enough and above all it
is superior to what the majority of its competitors offer in their entry-level
version. Everything is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission and standard
all-wheel drive. Then we offer you the turbocharged 3.5-litre V6 engine, which
boasts 375 horsepower and 391 lb-ft of torque, rather impressive figures. Just
like the 4-cylinder engine, this V6 is mated to an 8-speed automatic
transmission and standard all-wheel drive.
We can talk about design and emotion on several levels with
the Genesis GV70 and certainly, it is a nice vehicle outside and inside, but
the Korean manufacturer's SUV is also capable of changing your emotions by
depending on the driving mode you choose, down to the smallest details. In the
3.5T Sport version, for example, with sport mode, the needle on the rev counter
dial ignites, the seats get closer, the exhaust becomes noisier. If that ain't
emotion, pinch me somebody. Moreover, to take the concept even further, some
versions of the Korean manufacturer's SUV are equipped with a system that
records your driving position using a fingerprint reader and I could continue
to give you examples of the same. genre to make a dissertation of several dozen
pages.
Despite its young
age, the Genesis brand has already built a solid reputation and this is partly
due to the fact that the manufacturer is evolving at lightning speed. It is for
this reason that the G70 has already benefited from an aesthetic overhaul. The
sedan from the Korean manufacturer is therefore entitled to a new front bumper,
new headlights, new taillights and several other subtle but oh so significant
improvements. Genesis also took the opportunity to give the G70 a major update
to its infotainment system and it feels good. Thus, the Korean manufacturer's
sedan continues to progress and approach the top of its segment.
However, I dare
say that the Genesis G70 does not have much to envy the competition, because it
is an elegant car that exudes all that is most prestigious. Not to mention that
it is very comfortable and offers sporty driving even in its most basic
version. If you like luxury cars, the G70 has everything you need except for
the pretentiousness that accompanies its rivals. In short, all that to say that
if you are not looking to impress anyone and what matters to you is the
experience that your car gives you, the Genesis G70 sedan is a car you do not
risk to regret buying it.
The first engine
available to you with the 2022 Genesis G70 is a turbocharged 4-cylinder
2.0-litre engine that delivers 252 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque, which is
on the right average, but no more. This mill is mated to an 8-speed automatic
transmission and standard all-wheel drive, making it a most versatile car
that's fun to drive even if it's not about the mechanics of performance. If
you're looking for a more dynamic driving experience, the 3.3-litre twin-turbo
V6 is the place to go. The latter boasts 365 horsepower and 376 lb-ft of
torque, which provides impressive acceleration and more than dynamic driving.
Moreover, when equipped with this engine, the Korean manufacturer's sedan is
able to complete the 0-100 in just 5.3 seconds.
Genesis was right
from the start by giving its cars a unique aesthetic signature, but also
capable of competing with those of major German manufacturers. So, when you
come across a G70, you know it belongs to the Genesis family and that's a very
good thing. As for its mid-term redesign, the Korean automaker has done a great
job and the Genesis G70 is sleeker and sportier than ever. I believe it is a
car that leaves no one indifferent and with good reason.
It is a very pleasant
car to drive and it lacks nothing in terms of equipment and safety features.
Its all-wheel drive is very efficient and the performance of its 3.3-litre
engine is very impressive.
