Best Sports Cars of 2022

01- Mazda MX-5 Miata

Mazda has confirmed that the next MX-5 will be electrified, but it's not yet clear in what form. 100% electric, hybrid? The future will tell.

Mazda is looking to electrify the MX-5 with the goal of having all models have some form of electrification by 2030. Mazda is working hard to make it a lightweight, affordable and convertible two-seater sports car to respond to client's needs.

02 - Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS

The Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS, the new top-of-the-range model in the 718 family, is a radical car, which stands out for its lightweight construction, a chassis with particularly agile tuning, sophisticated aerodynamics and a unique sound environment.

The 718 at the top of the range is distinguished by its intake air intakes located behind the driver and passenger side windows, where the small side windows usually are. These new air intakes not only improve the flow of intake air to the engine, but they also produce a haunting sound perceived by the occupants. Engineers retained the distinctive air intakes in front of the rear wheels that provide engine cooling.

03 - Chevy Camaro

The automotive industry is constantly changing and even though the Chevrolet Camaro is still a very popular car, the American manufacturer seems to want to discontinue the model after 2024. Who knows, maybe another Camaro is on the way or perhaps the American manufacturer wants to concentrate its efforts on another model that will be even more popular than the Camaro.

First discovered by Muscle Cars & Trucks, the change means you can now get the 1LE package on Camaro SS and Camaro ZL1 models only, with naturally aspirated LT1 and LT4 6.2-liter V-8 supercharged engines, respectively. The V-8 versions are selling better, so they will be Chevy's main focus in the future.

04 - Ford Mustang

A true legend on four wheels, the Ford Mustang continues its long career without too many changes in 2022. Its entry-level version is powered by a 4-cylinder turbocharged engine, but purists will prefer to opt for the GT version and its big V8 of 5 liters. For the eccentrics, the Mustang Shelby GT500 should do the trick, with its 5.2-liter V8 whose power of 760 horsepower is absolutely insane.

05 - Ferrari F8

The mystery will not have hovered long, Maranello unveils its new rear mid-engine weapon, the Ferrari F8 Tributo.

The name is a tribute to the uncompromising design of the model as well as the engine that powers it. With its 720 horsepower and a record specific power of 185 hp/l, this engine is the most powerful in history for a Ferrari not defined as a special series, and has established itself as a benchmark not only for turbo engines, but also for powertrains in the absolute sense.

06 - Maserati MC20

Maserati has just unveiled its new sports car. This one takes the name of MC20 for Maserati Corse 2020, a name which refers to the return of the mark in competition this year.

The bold MC20 marks the start of a new era for Maserati, complete with modernized Trident logo and calligraphy. With remarkable aerodynamics and a gross weight of less than 1,500 kg, the car uses a new 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 engine that develops 621 horsepower and 538 lb-ft of torque, a peak in the range. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes just 2.9 seconds.

07 - McLaren 720S

Generally, when you love sports cars, you love Formula 1. Everyone has their own camp, their favorite team, but it must be recognized that McLaren with its track record and its driver stories leave no fan indifferent.

To impress, the new McLaren 720S takes care of its aesthetics. A new stylistic orientation that affirms its character, when the previous British models seemed to elude this variable somewhat. Beyond the impressive scissor doors,

With its twin-turbo 4-litre V8 engine, the McLaren 720S generates 710 horsepower and 568 lb-ft of torque. With such cavalry, the manufacturer estimates that the exotic can go from 0-100 km/h in 2.9 seconds and can reach a maximum speed of 341 km/h. The quarter mile is completed in 10.4 seconds. Two distinct versions of the 720S are available. On the one hand, the coupe, on the other, the convertible Spider variant.

08 - BMW 8-Series

The BMW 8 Series is the very statement of sporty luxury. It integrates, with character, the family of BMW luxury models, with a contemporary and accomplished design. Steering wheel in hand, this sporty convertible impresses with its exceptional performance, its remarkable dynamic qualities and its cutting-edge technologies for a new dimension of driving pleasure.

The three versions of this BMW 8 Series are equipped with driving aids such as front anti-collision aid, lane change aid, parking assistant with rear camera, and even remote parking aid. Available in coupe, convertible, and even a low-profile sedan that looks more like a four-door coupe, the modern iteration of the 8 range is more like a re-marketed 6 Series.

 09 - Toyota Supra

Sporty at the top of Toyota's lineup, the Supra shares many of its components with the BMW Z4. Two engines are on the program: a 2-litre 4-cylinder and a 3-litre 6-cylinder. Using turbo compression, these mechanics develop 255 and 382 horsepower respectively. For the 2022 model year, we note the arrival of a red interior in association with the gray exterior color as well as the abandonment of the A91 version.

 10 - Jaguar F-Type

News about the arrival of new types of vehicles at the start of the next decade is growing at an incredible rate. The last in the running belongs to Jaguar which is preparing a mid-engine hybrid car.

This would take the name of J-Type and would be marketed from 2022 as a 2023 model. With it, Jaguar would like to have a response to offer a product like the McLaren 570S and the Mercedes-AMG GT, for example. Also, according to what the magazine reports, the engineers would have as inspiration the most recent NSX from Acura.

Mechanically, the power will come from a V6 gasoline unit that will be supported by at least two electric units. Of course, things may change by then, but what seems more cast in stone is the mid-engine setup.
