The brand's third 100% electric car after the Ioniq and Kona, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 is a compact crossover built on an unprecedented platform. This new model also features the latest evolution of the automaker's styling direction.
The Ioniq 5 was
presented to us as the electric car of the New World. And it's true that
looking at this Hyundai, we can only wish for this New World. If new electric
cars deliver as much emotion as this Ioniq 5, we're going to be living in
cities rolling works of art. Obviously, there is a catch, If its design amazes
us, know that its song does not seem so fantastic.
Remember this name
Ioniq, because the South Korean firm intends to offer it to you on different
models. Indeed, Ioniq will be the label for Hyundai's 100% electric models and
our Ioniq 5 is the first.
A little later we
will be entitled to the Ioniq 6, a high-class sedan capable of responding to
the arguments of a Tesla Model S, and an Ioniq 7 which will position itself in
the segment of large 7-seater electric SUVs, just like the Tesla Model X.
But the most
interesting thing for us is that Hyundai is planning an Ioniq 4. A compact
sedan that would position itself on the services of a Volkswagen ID.3.
This Ioniq 5 is
the first model from the Hyundai group to use the South Korean giant's new
E-GMP platform. This technical base is obviously scalable and will serve as the
basis for the other models mentioned above. It allows this Ioniq 5 to offer
several choices of powertrain and battery from its launch.
Entry into the
Hyundai electric universe will be through the Ioniq 5 58 kWh. It has a single
engine, placed on the rear axle and strong with a stable of 170 horsepower for
350 Nm of torque. It would display here a WLTP standard autonomy of 384 km and
even 587 km in the city.
As the technical
solution of the batteries of the Ioniq 5 is an 800 V, it is able to recharge at
the rate of 195 kW. An impressive figure compared to the 120 kW of the
Volkswagen ID.4.
You want more,
then your choice could well be the Ioniq 5 72.6 kWh. In addition to being more
powerful, with 218 cannons for 350 Nm of torque, it increases its range to
reach 481 km in WLTP and 686 km in urban areas. Recharging speed is also better
with a peak power of 253 kW.
This version
retains the 72.6 kWh battery of the previous version, but adds a 95-horsepower
electric motor for 255 Nm of torque to the front axle. In addition to making,
it an all-wheel drive, this Ioniq 5 benefits from 306 nags and 605 Nm of torque.
Inevitably, the
performance is affected with a 0 to 100 dispatched in 5.2 seconds while the
speed remains limited to 185 km/h, like the other two versions. Its WLTP range
is 460 km or 640 km in the city. Cherry on the hood, this Hyundai Ioniq 5 can
also tow a trailer up to 1,600 kg.
Utility buyers
with an active lifestyle will enjoy the IONIQ 5's 680-kilogram (1,500-pound)
towing capacity, while a two-way charging feature allows users to power
external electrical devices, such as a cooler, an electric bicycle, camping
equipment, via a socket located under the rear seat, or via an adapter plugged
into the vehicle's exterior charging port. Hyundai even claims that you can
charge another EV that needs a bit of autonomy. For the rest, Ford gives you the
opportunity to acquire a brilliant Compact Truck at all levels thanks to its
general balance, the Maverick has everything you need to please you and meet
your needs.
The brightness
contributes greatly to the "Zen" atmosphere that reigned on board. By
touching the steering wheel, it became more complicated. Just like the quality
of the plastics, just sufficient, and therefore insufficient for this kind of
car.
In conclusion, the
2022 Ford Maverick is bound for success. And it is clear that several
manufacturers will react to this vehicle, which will set new standards and make
many buyers think who are tired of refueling at great expense.
