BMW unveils the name X8 for what could be an SUV as imposing as it is powerful. Here is what we know so far about the 2023 BMW X8 new model.
We already know that the BMW
X8 will be based on the same platform as the X7 and that it will actually be a more
refined and sportier version of the latter, much like the X3/X4 and X5/X6.
Anyway, that would mean that the 2 SUVs from the Bavarian manufacturers will
share the same engines. The X8 will essentially be an X7 with a sloping
roofline
In mid-2023, it's also
expected to get some sort of autonomous driving assistance upgrade, likely
because BMW will be launching a new system then. We know BMW isn't hyper-focused
on semi-autonomous driving aids right now, but it looks like it has a plan in
the works.
BMW seems to have every
high-end SUV needed
on the planet covered. But that would not be enough, since a new model is being
prepared. The Bavarian manufacturer is fine-tuning the development of its BMW
X8 on the Nürburgring circuit in Germany.
We still do not know its
characteristics, but this plug-in hybrid X8 should take over the 394-horsepower
system of the X5 xDrive45e. The latter combines a 286 hp 6-cylinder petrol
engine and a 112 hp electric motor, as well as a 24-kWh battery for 80 km of
electric range.
Based on the big X7, the X8
will be its eccentric alter ego, like the X2 derived from the X1. Lower, and
with a more daring design, this vehicle will keep a length of more than 5.10
meters and a width of 2 meters.
Already flushed out on the
circuit in the spring, the future BMW X8 continues its road tests before its
official presentation which will take place in 2023. Despite a camouflage still as important, the prototype
reveals a little more about its style, particularly massive, and its hybrid
engine. This model will come to oversee the range of BMW SUVs. The X8 M with a
V8 engine that will have the help of the electric fairy will take the form of a
plug-in hybrid model. Sources close to the case say it will deliver around 750
horsepower in its M form. under the hood of the X7.
While there's no doubt that the BMW X8 will have less headroom than the rear-seat X7 due to its lower roofline, you won't be short of space since it's a huge car. Although, the X8 will potentially use the X7's split tailgate to make loading its ample trunk easier.

From the first look we notice
that only the front end seems “flatter” and squarer, carried by the imposing
grilles of the X7, but also lower headlights and redesigned air intakes. What
suggests a clean identity to hold the top of the basket with this next SUV. In
addition to two-piece front optics with the daytime running lights separated
and overhanging the headlights, there will be a grille made up of oversized
beans illuminated, LED lights mounted on the roof appear to frame the
windshield. The hood is also characterized by its central end, puffy in the
extension of the beans with a central notch to crimp the logo of the mark
there.
The final version of this BMW X8 M/XM should be launched in 2022 for deliveries starting immediately as a 2023 model. In terms of prices, take that of an M8 and add a few tens of % to it and you will not be far from the truth.
