A newcomer to the automotive world, Rivian has been able to raise funds from leading investors. So, let's take a look at Rivian Truck the most exciting upcoming electric pickup trucks.
Rivian,
you will hear about this American company which is now one of the 10 most
valuable car manufacturers in the world. Rivian is worth as much as BMW or
Ford: its valuation exceeded $100 billion following its IPO. Rivian, an
independent company, has Amazon (which owns 20% of the shares) and Ford (which
owns 13%) as its main shareholders. In the shareholding, we also find Fidelity
Management & Research Company, D1 Capital Partners, Third Point, Dragoneer
Investment Group, Franklin Templeton, Blackstone as well as Coatue, all big
names in investment who see in Rivian the next Monster of electric pickups.
After
investing $700 million in Rivian, Amazon wants to drive cleaner thanks to the
technologies of the American start-up. The firm expects to be able to save 4
million metric tons of carbon per year thanks to these vehicles, with a goal of
zero carbon footprint in 2040.
There
is no longer any doubt that the very first fully electric truck available on
the North American market, the Rivian R1T, to name it, has successfully entered
the pickup arena. First driving impressions have been very good so far and the
American truck can now add this hunting trophy to its very modest history. The
R1T has four motors known as one per wheel, giving it the best handling of any
pickup on the market today. The $73.00 pickup with 314 miles of range is the
first all-electric truck to win the 2022 MotorTrend truck of the year award for
the first time.
Aside from the slightly odd front end
styling, the Rivian R1T is a nice looking truck. The rear is simple but elegant
with just a thin LED light that spans the width of the tailgate. It still has
the familiar square look of a conventional pickup, but the edges are more
rounded to give the truck a sleeker, more modern look.
The Rivian
R1T has a beautiful interior that can accommodate up to five passengers. The
central screen measures 15.6 inches and is oriented horizontally instead of
vertically like in a Tesla.
The
battle for electric trucks has been going on for a while now and the
competition will only get stronger as time goes on. After Tesla delayed the
arrival of the Cyber truck and other manufacturers gave no news, Rivian has
just reached an important milestone. The first consumer-grade Rivian R1T
electric truck rolled out of the factory, becoming the first market-ready truck
to hit the market.
The
event was celebrated in large crowds at the plant located in Illinois, as the
first Rivian R1T consumer truck rolled off the assembly line. Hundreds of
employees had gathered outside the factory to see the truck leave, decked out
in Rivian blue paint. Led by CEO RJ Scaringe who was accompanied by his wife
and children and he posted photos of the event on his Instagram account.
This
Rivian R1T therefore becomes the first electric truck intended for sale to
leave a factory. It thus takes the lead against the next truck that should
appear on the market.
High-end models of the R1T will be sold out initially, with lower-end versions arriving shortly after launch. The R1T will have a base price of $69,000 and a $1,000 refundable deposit guarantees you one now.
