Ford plans to launch five all-new or face-lifted SUVs over the next three years. Let’s find the new 2022 Ford SUVs below.
Fortunately, the
American manufacturer did not disappoint us since it found us an excellent way
to be forgiven for all this waiting by offering us a Raptor version of the
Bronco, nothing less.
The first thing
you probably want to know about the Ford Bronco Raptor is what's under its
hood. Unfortunately, there's no V8 on the program, but Ford has done a lot more
than take the 2.7-liter V6 to improve it. Indeed, the American manufacturer's
SUV benefits from the 3.0-liter V6 with twin turbochargers that are already
found in certain performance models from Lincoln and Ford, as is the case with
the Explorer ST in particular.
The SUV from the
American manufacturer also benefits from a heavily improved HOSS 4.0
suspension. Ground clearance jumps to 13.1 inches or 4.8 inches more than the
regular Bronco if you prefer. The Bronco Raptor is also 9.8 inches wider than
the base version of the model, which makes it damn imposing on the road,
especially when you consider that it benefits from standard 37-inch tires.
The Ford Edge is
part of the emotional buys, because in theory, there's nothing the latter
accomplishes that the Ford Escape and Ford Explorer aren't capable of
accomplishing one way or the other. At the same time, the Ford Edge is also
significantly larger in terms of space and comfort than the Escape even if it
does not offer 3 rows of seats like the Explorer. Therefore, it is much more
affordable. Ford Edge is something of a luxury vehicle because it goes beyond
the notion of necessity. It is nonetheless much more affordable than a luxury
vehicle and that is what makes it such an interesting model.
Ford completely
redesigned its Escape compact SUV in the fall of 2019. At the time of launch,
the regular version of the model as well as the hybrid variant had been
presented. We were then promised the possible arrival of the rechargeable
hybrid version.
With the Ford
Escape hybrid, there is no electric range, except for short moments on the road
when the battery is at full capacity. It also regenerates under braking, which
means that we take advantage here and there of little all-electric moments
behind the wheel. There is no better choice between the hybrid version and the
plug-in hybrid version of the Ford Escape. In fact, it all depends on your
needs and habits. There are a few thousand dollars difference between the
variants of each model.
Increasingly,
hybrid vehicles are presenting themselves as the best of both worlds, combining
the advantages of electric cars and gasoline-powered cars. This is the case of
the 2021 Ford Explorer Hybrid, which is more powerful, more autonomous and more
economical thanks to its dual motorization which allows it to go far.
The popular
midsize SUV now comes with a hybrid version, which forms on the Limited trim,
making it a well-equipped utility vehicle. With a 3.3L V6 engine paired with an
electric motor, the hybrid model develops an impressive 318 horsepower and 322
lb-ft of torque. Its autonomy is increased to 708 km, which means that you will
have to stop much less often on the road, on a daily basis or during trips.
We don't skimp on
comfort either, with perforated leather seats, heated and ventilated front
seats, and even heated second-row seats. The three-zone climate control also
guarantees comfort for all passengers, whatever the season, whether there are
two or seven of you on board.
Expected in early
2022, the Ford Kuga plug-in hybrid will offer up to 50 kilometers of range in
electric mode. Totaling up to 225 horsepower, the hybrid system that powers the
Kuga Plug-in hybrid consists of a 2.5-litre four-cylinder Atkinson cycle petrol
engine supplemented by an electric motor. At this stage, the manufacturer does
not provide any further information on the performance and characteristics of
these two engines.
Using lithium-ion technology, the battery that drives the Kuga plug-in hybrid has a total energy capacity of 14.4 kWh, enough to travel more than 50 kilometers in 100% electric mode. Capable of recovering part of its energy during the braking and deceleration phases, this battery recharges in 4 hours.
