Tesla with its Model X is back in force in 2022. This may change the game, with the long-awaited return of this high-end vehicle from the manufacturer. We take stock of everything we know about Tesla Model X.
The Tesla Model 3
was the brand's first electric car to be equipped with a CCS Combo format
charging port. This port allows connection to the manufacturer's V3
Superchargers at full power which is 250 kw currently.
Instead of this CCS
Combo port, there is therefore a modified Type 2 port on the Tesla Model X,
which is smaller and does not allow a CCS Combo cable to be inserted into the
charging port. On Tesla's V2 Superchargers, there are two cables: a modified
Type 2 for Tesla Model X, and a CCS Combo port for Tesla Model 3 and Tesla
Model Y, as well as for vehicles from other manufacturers when it is This is a
Supercharger open to everyone.
But how does the
Tesla Model X then recharge on the V3 Superchargers, which only have a CCS Combo
format cable? Tesla provides an adapter to connect a CCS Combo cable on one
side, and on the other to enter the modified Type 2 port of Tesla Model X. The
problem with this adapter is that it has a limit of rather low intensity, and
can only recharge at 150 kw maximum.
Who says flagship
of a brand says technical specificities at the state of the art. And when it
comes to electric cars, that means performance and range that should dominate
the rest of the range. Equipped with batteries of around 100 kwh, the Tesla
Model X logically dominates the Model 3 and Model Y, which only carry 75 kwh
with them.
Among the
novelties, we find the famous Yoke steering wheel, in the shape of a U, as well
as a fully digital instrument cluster. The large central touch screen still
overhangs the dashboard, but is now in a horizontal position. A third screen is
arriving, this one is intended for rear passengers and integrates entertainment
and controls.
In terms of technology, the Tesla electric SUV is also equipped with a 22-speaker audio system, heated seats, steering wheel and windshield, tri-zone air conditioning, wireless phone charging, but also several USB sockets. -VS.
The Tesla Model X with 560 kilometers of autonomy announced for the most enduring version, and 536 kilometers for the Plaid version.
Like the Tesla
Model S, only two versions are available for pre-order:
- The basic Tesla Model X: The SUV benefits from two electric motors as well as all-wheel drive. It is then very efficient since the 0 to 100 km / h is done in less than 4 seconds, while the top speed reaches 250 km / h. Autonomy also looks good, with an estimated 560 km in the WLTP cycle.
-
The Tesla Model X
Plaid: all-wheel drive is still available, but this time there are three
electric motors that make the SUV even more powerful. Indeed, the 0 to 100 km /
h is done in just 2.6 s, while the maximum speed is 262 km / h. As for
autonomy, it is slightly lower, but remains very significant, with 536 km.
Who says that a high-end car comes with a high-end price tag? Of course, the Tesla Model X will not be affordable to everyone. The Tesla Model X now comes in only two versions. The Model X with Dual Motor all-wheel drive with a front engine and a rear engine, is displayed from $104,990. More powerful with its three engines, the Tesla Model X Plaid will be marketed from $126,490.
