Not all premium SUVs are created equal and finding the right one for you isn't easy. Because the market is changing rapidly, some brands offer much more value than others. Luxury brands that started building SUVs early also tend to be more reliable and offer better resale value. Above all, the technology inside the car can vary greatly from brand to brand.
The 2022 BMW X1 with these slightly larger rims and a more aggressive body kit looks very similar to the examples already spotted in the past. However, there is one detail that does not deceive: two very suggestive and even very surprising double exhaust outlets. It is expected that it will receive the same 4-cylinder 2.0 petrol turbo with 306 hp as the models already mentioned, not powerful enough to make them real models in the Motorsport range.
At BMW, the
2 Series comes in two distinct versions. The first, the Gran Coupé, has four
doors and the second, the Coupé, has only two. We will tackle the latter, since
it is freshly renewed.
Let's start with the obvious, the next-gen 2 Series doesn't incorporate the chunky grille featured on a host of the brand's products, including the new 4 Series. In that sense, it remains true to its past in terms of aesthetics.
The A3 is the most accessible model at Audi. Once offered in a multitude of versions, only the sedan remained in North America. It features the 2-litre TFSI engine which is paired with mild hybridization technology. As standard, it is equipped with the quattro system. Performance enthusiasts will be pleased to hear that there are also S3 and RS 3 versions.
The Discovery Sport luxury compact SUV has its equipment slightly increased for 2022. New colors are also available. What doesn't change is the 2.0L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine delivering 246 horsepower and 269 lb-ft of torque. Unlike the Discovery, no 6-cylinder engine is offered. A rechargeable hybrid version is also expected. It should be added that the cabin can accommodate up to seven people if necessary.
Although the German manufacturer's sales are mainly made up of sport utility vehicles today, the image we have of Porsche remains that of a company that manufactures some of the most powerful and desirable sports cars in the world. In this case, it is generally the Porsche 911 that fuels our fantasies since it evolves as a flagship model for the brand. The only problem is that the 911 has been on the market since 1963, which has somehow forced the German manufacturer to respect a certain tradition in terms of the configuration of its sports car. I'm not saying that the 911 is not sporty enough, quite the contrary, but the problem is that the brand's engineers have developed a new platform with much higher potential than that of the 911. namely the Cayman that we know today under the name 718 as a sports Coupé version.
The Lexus UX is back for the 2022 model year only as a 181-hp four-wheel-drive hybrid. The gasoline-powered one with front-wheel drive and 168 horsepower is no longer in the catalog. Closer to a hatchback than a classic SUV, this small, fuel-efficient crossover boasts great build quality and its trendy style can be enhanced with the new F SPORT Special Edition.
Launched in
2018, the Volvo XC40 is getting a slight restyling for 2022, the main purpose
of which is to standardize its style and its staffing with the new C40, its
coupé derivative. This mid-career facelift is particularly noticeable on the
front end, which adopts more slender headlights, as well as on the lower part
of the front bumper, which incorporates a new design of the fog lamp bezels,
which adopt an arrow shape. As on the C40, the XC40 can now benefit from Pixel
LED headlights, which will be offered on certain micro-hybrid and electric
versions, while there is a new choice of rims.
The 2022 Lexus IS hit the market with more safety features, 10 models in its lineup to ensure you find exactly the Lexus IS you're looking for, and a wide range of powertrain options. Significantly improved over the past year, the Lexus IS returns as one of the most attractive luxury compact sedans you can buy. The new Lexus IS 2022 stands out for its reliability and durability, two rare features in this segment. That said, it will also impress you with its ability to combine performance and comfort.
The Jaguar E-Pace, the first compact SUV model from the legendary British brand, was restyled in 2022. It features all the distinctive signs of Jaguar, including elegance, dynamism and agility. Its curved lines convey contained power. Its sculpted bonnet and the curve of its rear lines are reminiscent of the design of a coup. This SUV features a new LED light signature, scrolling indicators, redesigned bumpers, air intakes and grille.
It's not easy to stand out in the luxury compact SUV category. The Infiniti QX50 relies on elegant styling and innovative technologies, such as a 2.0-liter turbo engine with variable compression that sometimes favors performance, sometimes fuel economy. It generates 268 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque, all distributed to all four wheels. A sportier version and an electrified option are still awaited.
