Cadillac promised us a more powerful version of its CT5 sedan. It is now done, and we have to admit that the American manufacturer did not do things by halves!
Here are
five things to know about the 2022 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing:
With the
CT5-V Blackwing, Cadillac presents the fastest car in its history. Nothing
less! Indeed, the sedan has a top speed of 322 km/h and completes the quarter
mile in 11.30 seconds.
This is
made possible thanks to a monstrous supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine that
develops 668 horsepower and 659 lb-ft of torque! We are not far from the
figures of the Dodge Charger Hellcat!
These
prowesses also translate into expeditious acceleration times. The 0-97 km/h
(0-60 mph) exercise is done in 3.4 seconds for the version equipped with the
automatic transmission, while the same test is done in 3.6 seconds for the
variant with manual transmission.
Finally, the pilot will be able to choose between several driving modes: Touring, Sport, Track, Snow/Ice, My Mode (personalized) and Mode V.
You read
that right, the Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing a six-speed manual and ten-speed
transmission with paddle shifters is also available.
In terms of consumption, although this is not part of the vocation of the car, know that the CT5-V drinks 14.8 L/100 km with the automatic transmission. The data goes up to 15.2 L/100 km with the manual transmission.
Compared to
the regular CT5, the Blackwing incorporates certain aesthetic elements of its
own. First, the front is much more aggressive, in particular thanks to the
multiplicity of air intakes located below the headlights and on the bumper.
The skirts
are drawn more incisively since they use pointed and elongated lines. We also
find four exhaust tips at the rear instead of two.
In addition, two Carbon sets are optional. several carbon fiber components are added to the body: the front air splitter, front wheel arch deflectors and an additional rear spoiler.
Naturally,
since it is a high-performance model, the CT5-V Blackwing incorporates an array
of mechanical technologies. In this sense, to stop the vehicle in sporty
driving, this Cadillac is offered with the biggest brakes in the history of the
brand.
Of course,
these are Brembo brakes with six-piston calipers at the front and four at the
rear. As an option, and especially for circuit enthusiasts, carbon-ceramic
brakes with perforated discs are available.
A limited-slip differential is located in the rear, and this Blackwing is equipped with the fourth-generation Magnetic Ride Control adaptive suspension.
The
interior of this CT5 has been updated with a series of technologies. We find an
infotainment system equipped with a ten-inch screen that incorporates wireless
Apple Car Play and Android Auto applications.
As standard
comes an inductive mobile phone charger and head-up display for the driver. For
audiophiles, know that you will be served by an AKG hi-fi system with 15
speakers. As an option, you could get carbon fiber-trimmed racing seats.
We know that Cadillac is slowly moving towards electrification and that it's only a matter of time before cars like the CT5 are just a relic of the past. Fortunately, the American manufacturer's sedan is still available in 2022 and that's why you shouldn't miss taking advantage of it.
