No manufacturer is immune to a few calendar delays, but the year 2022 should bring its share of 100% electric novelties. A few models in particular caught our attention.
Founded in 2017, the startup Canoo develops prototypes of electric cars. For the first time, the company is preparing to market one of its creations: a multifunction and innovative minivan, the prototype of which was unveiled in 2019. Its sleek and futuristic design, coupled with its multiple functionalities, had drawn attention to the period and its acquisition could only be made by reservation. The passenger space at the rear particularly marked the spirits, with its curved bench seat like a sofa and its vast central space. The car will be available in four configurations: the basic one, then Premium, Adventure and Delivery. The first two will be tasked with ensuring comfortable city journeys, with their layout of five to seven seats, their rechargeable battery in about thirty minutes for a range of 400 kilometres, their panoramic glass roof and their side windows enveloping the entire cabin at the rear, offering an ideal view of the whole exterior.
Ford has announced in recent hours that the production
capacity of the electric version of its F-150 pickup will increase to 150,000
units per year at its Michigan plant.
The best-selling vehicle for ages in the United States (44 years), the F-150 pick-up will also soon be rolling across the Atlantic in a full electric version. As a reminder, the F-150 Lightning, that's its name, announced with a range of up to 480 km, delivers power up to 563 horsepower, for a torque of around 1,050 Nm, and overcomes 0 to 100 km/h in just over 4 seconds!
During an announcement regarding its electrification
strategy, General Motors (GM) provided some information about Cadillac's new
electric SUV, the Lyriq.
The latter was first announced more than a year ago when
GM unveiled eye-catching sketches showing the interior and exterior of the
vehicle at an investor meeting. These hinted at a very futuristic design, as
well as a configuration suggesting the presence of a third row.
What we do know is that the Lyriq will be based on a platform dedicated to electric vehicles. It will be equipped with a new type of battery that GM has dubbed Ultium. The latter offers more layout flexibility and will cost less to produce due to lower Cobalt usage.
Born from a vision. Created for electro mobility. Thanks
to efficient BMW eDrive technology and fully electric all-wheel drive, the BMW
iX achieves a very long range and powerful acceleration from a standing start.
The intelligent BMW OS 8.0 operating system is always up-to-date and works
completely intuitively.
Aware of ecological issues, BMW continues to expand its
range of clean, electrified and plug-in hybrid vehicles.
Discover and let yourself be seduced by the very first electric SUV in the range: the new BMW iX.
After a long wait, the final version of the Fisker Ocean
sees the light of day on the plush carpets of the Los Angeles show.
Presented several times in the form of a prototype, the
Fisker Ocean is now displayed on its native lands in its final version. The
brand is taking advantage of the Los Angeles Motor Show to lift the veil on its
specificities as well as on the different versions of the electric SUV.
The Fisker Ocean opens its range with the Sport version, equipped with a single electric motor on the front axle (rather rare on an SUV of this size) of 279 hp and an LFP battery supplied by CATL. In this version, the range is given for 250 miles, or 402 km.
In the context of the NACTOY tests (North American Car,
Utility and Truck of the Year Awards), I was able for the first time to be
introduced to this resurrection of the Hummer, now 100% electric and marketed
via the GMC division.
After the pick-up, General Motors lifts the veil on the SUV version of its new electric monster. With its very impressive looks and it’s not so elitist price range, the new Hummer EV SUV could well walk on the flowerbeds of the Tesla Model X.
As expected, the new fully electric Mazda MX-30 will hit
the Canadian market later in 2021, in the fall. It will initially be sold only
in Quebec and British Columbia.
Approximately the same size as the CX-30, this small SUV
begins the electrification of Mazda while promising the same driving pleasure
for which the brand is known.
In the automotive world, manufacturers come up with a little extra that will attract people. In this case, Mazda arrives with much less. Less autonomy than the competition for the same price. A very bad way to be forgiven. With only 161 km of range, the MX-30 takes us back six or seven years.
