It is remarkable that he is not so-called worried about money, but only about the historical truth. Volkswagen’s production had been de-energized due to World War II. 
After sixty years, he tried to challenge the patent law, but this attempt failed. The Court found no conclusive evidence that Borg was the first to design this emblem. After all, the official story follows the idea of the creation of the VW logo by Franz Reimspiess.


The story of Volkswagen:

Volkswagen is a German word meaning “people's car”, and these words reflect reality. The priority of this brand of car is to make a car for people - a durable, high-quality, reliable, and usable car. That’s why Volkswagen cars are popular because they are suitable for everyone. Today the brand is just loved everywhere. The producer’s cars that are sold best of all are well known all over the world. They are Golf, Passat, and of course Beetle (Käfer). But today’s successes were preceded by a long history of hard work.
The brand originated in 1937. On 28 May, the «Gesellschaft Zur Vorbereitung des Deutschen Volkswagen mbH» was created. This period is known as the heyday of Adolf Hitler, and at the time he had a plan to create an affordable, fast (62 mph), economical (33 mph), and practical car at a reasonable price. Thus, Hitler commissioned the automotive engineer Ferdinand Porsche to design and build such a car. In response to this, in 1938, the first factory owned by the automaker opened in Wolfsburg. Volkswagen’s head office is established there. Shortly afterward, Hitler had the opportunity to enjoy the "Type 1 Convertible".

He changed the name of KdF-Wagen to honor a Nazi public organization. The design of the car was motivated by “Cars Tatra” and the vehicle had specific features such as the round shape, the swinging doors forward, the engine with air cooling. The model immediately gained fame. The New York Times published an article on the automobile, and thanks to the journalist’s example, it was nicknamed the «Beetle» because of the similarity of its appearance.


Unfortunately, one year later the Second World War began, and the factory was placed under the command of the military service in order to produce vehicles for the Third Reich army. During the war, Volkswagen had the design and construction of military vehicles: Kübelwagen (was used by all departments), VW Typ 128 Schwimmwagen (an amphibious vehicle), and others.

After the war, the Wolfsburg factory went under the control of Britain. The British were interested in rebuilding the plant, and soon the company began producing Beetle. In 1972, VW sold more than 15 million vehicles and the Beetle became the best-selling car in the world. This record is not yet broken.

Nevertheless, the company needed new models to gain more customers. Audi, which had been a subsidiary of VW since the 1960s, introduced the idea of a water-cooled engine and a front-wheel-drive car. On this basis, in 1973 engineers designed Passat (in many-body versions). It gave birth to a new class of cars. A year later, the company came with Golf (a sedan with the tailgate), which became the world’s famous right after entering the market. In 1976, Polo (a hatchback) appeared and proved to be a real success, especially in Western Europe. All this increased the financial strength of the company and made VW the largest manufacturer of cars.
In the following decades, Volkswagen continued with many updated vehicles: VW Jetta (1980, a sedan), VW Vento (1992, a sedan), VW Sharan (1995, a station wagon), VW Passat V (1996, a sedan/station wagon), VW Bora (1999, a sedan), VW Touareg (2002, a crossover), VW EOS (2006, a convertible coupe), VW Tiguan (2007, an SUV).

Now the members of the Volkswagen Group are Audi, Bentley, Bugatti, Seat, Škoda, Lamborghini, Scania AB, MAN AG, NSU Motorenwerke, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles.
