Top 10 Italian cars in history

Italy is a haven for exceptional motor vehicles. Discover the ten most beautiful Italian cars in our ranking, those that have left an indelible mark behind them!

1. Lamborghini Diablo:

Produced between 1990 and 2002, the Lamborghini Diablo is a dream vehicle. This supercar designed by the Italian manufacturer also inherited the vision of Chrysler, which bought the company in 1987 to take control. Equipped with a V12 engine, the Lamborghini Diablo succeeded the Lamborghini Countach. It was produced in 2,200 copies and refers to a bull, a mythical animal taken from the legend of El Diablo, a beast with horns so nicknamed because of its monumental strength.

2. Lancia Delta Integrale:

An Italian rally car built in 1988, the Lancia Delta Integrale is one of those legendary vehicles that have marked a generation or an era. Succeeding the 4WD, the car that won its drivers many trophies, the Lancia Delta Integrale won for the first time on the professional circuit in Sweden. Among its historic pilots is Carlos Sainz, who boarded a Lancia Delta Integrale during the celebration of the brand’s centenary in Turin in 2006.

3. Alfa Romeo Spider:

The Alfa Romeo Spider, roadster of the Italian manufacturer of the same name, was born in 1966. Production of this classic stopped in 1993. The mechanical and aesthetic transformations of this vehicle were few in number from one decade to the next due to the excellent finish quality of the Alfa Romeo Spider. Designed by Italian designer Battista «Pinin» Farina, the Alfa Romeo Spider has aged very well.

4. Fiat 500:

We are talking about the second-generation Fiat 500, also known as the Nuova 500, which replaced the first lineage of this vehicle in 1957. Twenty years after its launch, the Fiat Cinquecento was a real success, becoming the most sold vehicle in the manufacturer’s history. Timeless, the little Italian city girl still attracts crowds today.

5. Lancia Stratos:

Lancia did not achieve success on the motorsport scene thanks to its only Delta Integrale. Indeed, the Lancia Stratos, another rally car of the Italian manufacturer, turned heads in the early 1970s. In 1974, 1975, and 1976, the Lancia Stratos, produced in only 492 units, won three world titles in the discipline. This biceps Italian car stands out for its V6 engine.

6. Ferrari F40:

It’s one of the best Italian cars in the world, if not the best. This is the last car that Ferrari Enzo, founder of the brand, supervised. The Ferrari F40 is the very first car to reach 320 km/h. Perfect connection between man and machine, the Ferrari F40 is perhaps the best car of all time, even if it didn’t carry any ABS, airbag, or electronic assistance system on board.

7. Lamborghini Countach:

Precursor to the Lamborghini Diablo, the Countach is the manufacturer’s first model to adopt straight lines and angles in its design, something that made it very aggressive compared to its rivals. At the front, the headlights under the hood formed an atypical ensemble. The supercar will have made its own between 1974 and 1990.

8. Maserati Sebring:

The Maserati Sebring, an Italian touring car presented at the Geneva Motor Show in 1962, was produced from 1963 to 1965. Combining the mechanics of the 3500 GTi and a body designed by Vignale, the Sebring was produced with 593 units. We can therefore say that this Italian car is as rare as it is unique.

9. Lancia Fulvia Coupé:

Derived from the famous sedan, the Lancia Fulvia Coupé made its appearance in 1965. Marketed only in Italy, the Lancia Fulvia Coupé is one of the most remarkable vehicles in history due to its numerous victories in the motor rally, its particularly long gear lever, or its very advanced engine.

10. Lamborghini LM-002:

Long before the current manufacturers thought of building over-equipped SUVs, Lamborghini had already embarked on this great adventure. The Lamborghini LM-002, a military-air adventurer, was built to consolidate the ranks of the American army. Unfortunately, the prototype never produced on a large scale. The Lamborghini LM-002 sold 301 units.
