Toyota has often been criticized for building boring, soulless vehicles. And often, it was deserved.
However, during its 80 years of existence, Toyota has also built sensational vehicles, models that have marked automotive history. Not shying away from anything, we decided to set up our list of the top 10 Toyota vehicles.
1-Toyota Prius:
it was the green car par excellence, the one all the stars wanted to drive. Take a ride to Los Angeles and try to count the Prius on the road, just to see.
2-Toyota Celica:
The first generation of the Toyota Celica marked the 70s. At a time when American Muscle Cars were still the masters of our roads, Toyota stood out by offering a smaller vehicle, but no less fun to drive. The name Celica remained with Toyota until 2006.
3- Toyota 86:
Formerly marketed under the Scion banner, the FR-S became the Toyota 86 in North America. Developed in partnership with Subaru, this small SUV is one of the most fun-to-drive vehicles on the market right now. A classic in the making!
4- Toyota MR2:
A two-seater car with a central engine is far from boring. And yet, the MR2 is a Toyota! The second generation of the model (1989-1999) remains, in our opinion, the most significant.
5- Toyota Supra:
The Supra is another excellent example of Toyota’s know-how in sports cars. The fourth-generation (1993-2002) of the vehicle is particularly popular, especially in its twin-turbo version of 320 horsepower!
6-Toyota Corolla AE86:
Yes, this gorgeous car is called the Corolla! A true legend of the drift world, the AE86 certainly deserves its place among the most outstanding Toyota of all time. For the record, the Toyota 86 was named in honor of the AE86.
7-Lexus LFA:
Marketed under the luxury Lexus division, the 2012 LFA is considered one of the most spectacular sports cars of its time. Built-in 500 small units, the LFA is powered by a 4.8-liter V10 engine.
8- Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40:
Unlike the LFA, the Land Cruiser is not intended for racing tracks, but dirt roads. It’s one of the best off-road vehicles ever built, alongside legends like the Jeep Wrangler and the Land Rover Defender.
9-Toyota 2000GT:
No ambiguity here, the 2000GT is certainly the most significant Toyota in history. Built from 1967 to 1970, it proved to the world that the Japanese were able to develop sports cars worthy of the name. Today, a 20000GT in good condition can be worth more than a million dollars.
10-Toyota Hilux:
It is not widely known in North America, but elsewhere in the world, the Hilux has a reputation for invincibility. Go on a tour of Central America and you will come across hundreds of them, each one more damaging than the next. But they still drive!
The British TV show Top Gear had made a report where she was trying to kill a Hilux. Even after throwing it into the sea and placing it on top of a building that was later blasted, the truck still started!
