It seems that Bugatti is making a good start this year and has taken its initiative even more seriously in 2022 as the French manufacturer took the opportunity to unveil the 2022 Bugatti Bolide, its all-new limited-edition exotic sports car.
The production of
the Bugatti Bolide will be limited to 44 copies, which makes it one of the most
exclusive cars of the brand, but the ironic thing is that it is much more
affordable than many others. other production models at Bugatti. New
developments in greenhouse gas emissions and especially in terms of safety. The buyer at Bugatti has ample means to reserve a race
track for a day on his own if he does not already own a circuit.
It is sure that
not like the usual cars of the mark, the Bolide uses a particularly open body,
which gives access to several parts which are normally hidden like the
suspension. Its design was also strongly inspired by the Vision Les Mans
concept.
The 2022 Bugatti
Bolide is not only a pretty car, it is also very fast. The sports car from the
French manufacturer is powered by a 16-cylinder 8.0-liter engine which is
accompanied by 4 turbochargers, which brings its total power to 1,850
horsepower and 1,364 lb-ft of torque. In short, this explains why the Bugatti
Bolide is able to complete the 0-100 in just 2.2 seconds, but as you can
imagine, this is only a glimpse of its real potential. What makes it impressive
is at high speed since it seems that La Bolide is capable of passing the 500
km/h barrier. Indeed, Bugatti mentions that it can reach this speed in less
than 20.16 seconds from 0. However, it is unknown whether the tests were
carried out on a device capable of measuring speed or in real conditions.
Finally, when they say you have to see it to believe it, Bugatti must certainly
prove that its car is capable of reaching such speed, because it is a
performance that is not to be taken lightly.
Bugatti presents a
look inspired more by the supersonic plane than by the automobile, as its
rough-hewn features for the circuit seem straight out of a science fiction
comic book.
Although Bugatti
had already accustomed us to familiarity with the extremes in terms of
automotive design, the Bolide proves to be an even more advanced expression of
the know-how of the premium manufacturer, and this at all levels.
Its weight, for example, has been reduced to1240 kg for a power of 1850 HP. The result is a weight-to-power ratio of 0.67 kg/horsepower, in line with the legendary Type 35 of the 1920s whose weight-to-power combination made it one of the most successful racing cars of all time. To reach the dry weight of 1240 kg, Bugatti has designed a new one shell carbon whose materials offer traction and rigidity similar to that practiced in the aerospace industry.
The Bolide has a
power of 1850 horsepower and a torque of 1850 Nm. Bugatti announces that it is
capable of exceeding 500 km/h with a 0 to 100 km/h swallowed in 2.2 seconds. The
engine block was developed especially for use on the circuit. Intake and
exhaust systems have been downsized for more spontaneous response, while four
new-generation turbochargers develop more boost pressure and high-rpm power.
The Bolide
features are inspired by motorsport, such as a system of compressed air jacks
to facilitate tire changes and a high-pressure rapid refueling system. Its
brake discs have a racing-type ceramic coating mated to calipers that weigh
barely 2.4 kg, in “Formula 1” mode. The forged magnesium OZ rims have central
locking and are equipped with Michelin racing tires. So many artifices that
should delight circuit driving enthusiasts.
Bugatti claims
that its new car is able to cover the 20.8 km of the Nürburgring in 5:23″1,
which would be the second-best time behind the 5:19″55 of the Porsche 919 EVO.
The brand also announces that it wants to set a new record by completing the
Grand Circuit of Le Mans in 3’07″1. Could we see a disguised message from
Bugatti about a possible entry in the new Hyper car category at the 24 Hours of
Le Mans? We will have to wait a little longer before we know more.
The 2022 Bugatti Bolide, its base price is only 2.7 million US dollars, a colossal sum certainly, but certainly more reasonable than the 4 million dollars that one asks on average for a Chiron. What explains the price of the Bolide is above all the fact that it is not homologated for the road, which means that the French manufacturer was able to save significant sums by not having to meet the different standards. in terms of greenhouse gas emissions and especially in terms of safety.
